As the colors of fall begin to paint the landscape, the North Oaks Company invites you to explore the beauty of the season in a whole new way. Our newly renovated boardwalk in the Conservation Area provides the perfect vantage point to witness the changes in seasons.
A New Path to Nature
The new boardwalk was designed with both accessibility and conservation in mind. Stretching through the heart of the Conservation Area, it allows residents to immerse themselves in nature without disturbing the delicate ecosystems that surrounds Wilkinson Lake. The elevated boardwalk minimizes impact on the environment while providing an up-close view of the surrounding beauty. If you’re an early bird, the sunrises are amazing!
Witnessing Migration
Fall is a time of great movement in nature, and North Oaks’ Conservation Area is an ideal location to witness it. As warblers, raptors, and geese begin their journey south, our community becomes a key stopover on their migratory path. Lake Superior funnels these birds down to Duluth, and from there, they continue their journey through corridors like the one that North Oaks maintains. These greenways are essential for bird migration, offering safe passage and resources along the way. They are also important migratory corridors for local, nonmigratory wildlife as they move to their critical over wintering habitats.
In addition to the bird migrations, fall brings other special phenomena to observe. Dawn and dusk are ideal moments to observe deer and other wildlife as they become more active as they prepare for winter.
By preserving natural habitats and creating spaces where both people and wildlife can thrive, we ensure that future generations will continue to enjoy the wonders of fall in North Oaks.
